MUSIC IS LIFE.
i get this sort of jumpy feeling when i open a cd. there's something about taking off the wrapper slow, pulling out the booklet, and checking out the artwork. i ONLY open a cd if i'm going to listen to it right after. i have this lame ritual when i get excited about music.. i take the cd home.. un-wrap it.. put the cd in, and then browse through the booklet. i am a big supporter of purchasing cds, as i don't own an ipod. YES PEOPLE, i DO NOT, own an ipod. i personally, like hard copies. i enjoy album art.. i enjoy reading their thank you's the best.. sometimes i get real scared that there will be a day when cd's won't be sold anymore.. and it will just be "downloading" stores. i hope that never happens.. you know, like the vhs to dvd movement.. atracks, records, cassettes, cd's.. urgh. vinyl is so expensive!! BUT HAVE YOU HEARD THAT SHIT!? you hear every fucking layer. & cd's hold a special place in my heart..
BUT WAIT! i understand the whole downloading mp3's thing.. i have mp3's on my computer and my cell phone.. i get it. it's convenient. all your music in one place at the touch of money.. that's cool, it's just not my choice completely. so.. on this fine tuesday evening.. i choose to ask you this..
ARE YOU A DOWNLOAD OR A HARD COPY PERSON?!

i don't intend to ever buy an ipod, so i download mp3's to my cell phone.
but if i really like the artist then i will buy the cd. if you're willing to pay for something that you can get for free, then you know that it's special.
a cd actually holds a lot of value in my eyes. it means you actually support the artist and think highly of the music they make.
and i know what you mean about getting a new cd. it's just such a special occassion that you want to savour every momemt especially if it's the first time listening to the songs.
when cd's are no longer available, that is when you know the world is coming to an end.

just get an iPod already haha. First of all, you can take all of your purchased CD's and store them in the iPod and take them wherever. Secondly, it's such a time saver...make a playlist instantly, Britney Spears, Nas, Britney Spears, Nas again...
Thirdly, you can STILL buy your cd's to listen to them at home or whatever.
Yea, iPods aren't cheap but they're such a good investment lmao I'm not trying to "sell" you this product I hate sales man and would never work sales. I love music too, trust me iPods are NOT the enemy haha. Artists are still getting crazy rich these days...

i don't want an ipod.. there's always something "new" and "with it".. and i'm just not with that shit man. im simple. i feel like even if i had an ipod, i'd lose it or some shit. & really, i don't think i'd ever have the patience to put all my albums on to an ipod.
you can buy me an ipod, transfer my songs for me, and we'll see what happens. ;)
I'm a bit of both. The conveience of downloading is the biggest draw in, and saving money is a bonus too. But I do like buying cds, for similiar reasons; the album art work, reading the production credits, seeing what samples were used, etc. I cop vinyl too. That's actually fun, thumbing through vintage records and discovering a gem. I found an original pressing of Tribe's Award Tour, needless to say I squealed like a female piglet. And I also share your fear of the death of hard copy, as well as the death of print media. I still get sad about Mass Appeal going out of print.
award tour?! niiiiice. it's rare that i get vinyl as it's super expensive..
soon it'll be like shoes, they'll release what we want now in five years.. except we won't dig it as much because they've "re-mastered" it, tweaked the beats to modern, and changed the album covers..!
