NIGHTMARES ON WAX
I remember the first Nightmares on Wax song I heard, it's called "Nights Interlude". As soon as I heard it, I was sold. I MEAN, ERRRRMMMM, HELLO! He samples the fucking Pharcyde! "Nightmares on Wax" is such a brilliant name. That's the exact feeling you get when you listen to this dude. It's almost creepy, but in such a way that you wish you could listen to it in your nightmares forever.
Electronic sounds and hip hop beats make up this man from the UK. What's not to love?! Yum. Eat it for breakfast.
This veteren b-boy takes hip hop and experiments with it. He loops, dubs, splices, chops, backtracks.. he basically takes hip hop, electro and treats them like chocolate and strawberries.. two things that are already good transformed into something even better.
Dj Ease (his dj name) released his latest in 2009.. but if you're just finding out who he is, his discography is a heavy belt, so go ahead, trip to the hop, and get in the know, or should I say, the now. Hehe. I'm hilarious.

I can't exactly remember how I discovered M.I.A., but I remember the feeling being absolutely magical. She was everything I wanted from a female musician. She rapped well, she was a humanitarian, she dressed well, and she had swag to match. This girl is the definition of a boss lady, and I fucking love her for that. I was able to catch her live five years ago, and she tore the fucking roof off! This girl is phenomenal live. If you have a shot to see her, do.
Her music contains all the elements you're looking for, world, electronica, hip hop, pure awesome. What she feeds to the world through both fashion and music is that of no other. She's never afraid to test boundaries, and she does it well.
She was raised during a Sri Lankan war, and has the most hurtful and terrifying stories to tell. Yet she tells them honestly, and gives back to her people. I remember reading this article on her where times were so rough, she was literally hiding under dead bodies, trying to avoid soldiers that wanted to kill her. You make it through that, attend college, and develop a music career that is based on realism and originality, and fuck! You've got one of the dopest musicians to ever grace the fucking planet.
Rihanna and all these pop twats are just a bootleg carbon wannabe copy of one of the sickest female musicians on the scene right now. She rules. Take it from one of my favorite M.I.A. songs, ever..

If my love for M83 hasn't been expressed enough.. I'll try now. I. Fucking. Love. M83. Like it's ridiculous. "Midnight City" is a song created for kings and queens. For Gods. For princesses! I have never heard this song whilst out.. that was until, they played it for me on my birthday. It was absolutely perfect. I was kind of half glad they didn't play it on New Years, because hearing it on my birthday made me appreciate it that much more. I know there's a zillion and one remixes out for it right meow.. but yo.. the original. Nobody's touching it.
They named themselves off a galaxy, and that's pretty much how you feel when you're listening to them. You just get lost in this some sort of hypnosis type state where everything feels like.. water. You just flow, and your whole body turns into some sort of orgasmic type lovah lovah yum yum yes. Now I don't know what that means exactly, but I know that I mean it.
Really though, if ever I'm in a shit ass mood, go ahead and play me some M83. I'll probably fall in love with you, instantly.
I know I've only spoke of "Midnight City".. but it's amaze. The video kicks ass too.

OH ABEL TESFAYE! WHY AREN'T WE MARRIED YET?! I seriously think about fucking this guy at least once a day. I feel like my love for the Weeknd isn't shown off as much as it should be.. or maybe it is, and maybe I'm annoying by now.. BUT, BUT, if you've listened to the Weeknd at all, you understand why I'm so crazy for this guy.
This guy has made a haunting kind of R&B with an electric type feel that absolutely NO ONE has done before. His voice is amazing and covers rifts of glory. He has been compared to the XX, and for good reason. I believe not so much for the similarities (which there are), but more so for the fact that he literally stepped out into the world with something so NEW. Music is so shot these days, not with this man though. He creates refreshing depressing sexy tunes that literally send chills throughout your body. He describes everything so well that you paint the picture in your head.. or, you've been in the same situation before but didn't know how to say it. Abel Tesfaye does that for you!
This Torontonian put three tracks on the internet. "Loft Music", "What you Need", and "The Morning". The first I heard was "What you Need". I was instantly hooked, five seconds in. No joke. I had everyone blowing me up telling me to give this guy a chance, and when I did.. I couldn't stop. I'd search my ass off, only having those three songs to keep my craving down. Eventually, he dropped a mixtape. I over-played that shit everywhere I went. Then his second tape dropped.. which I loved, but my love for the first kept me banging it for longer.
Listening to the Weeknd is like having your virginity taken all over again. You're scared, nervous, you hurt a little bit, but at the same time it all feels so fucking good. What's even crazier?! THIS GUY DOESN'T EVEN HAVE AN ALBUM OUT YET. It's so crazy! HE DOESN'T EVEN HAVE A VIDEO! BUT! WAIT! Hold on to your underpants people! ABEL TESFAYE, has let us in on the know.. He is dropping his FIRST, OFFICIAL, video this week. Both myself and my computer will probably explode upon watching it. Seriously.

Alice and Ethan, two people who came together to make some lovely bangers. What's better?! Oh. They're Canadian. They are on my top three list of Electronic bands that I would like to see live. I hear nothing but good things about their live shows. They're wild and crazy. A friend of mine has seen them a couple times.. and Alice is always covered in bruises from the intensity of their shows. I dunno about you, but that is fucking bossy. I LOVE HER SO MUCH!
These two met. At the time, Alice was in a punk band. They decided to jam. He secretly recorded her. Threw the songs online, and after a couple years.. record deals came out the woo-hah. Does that sum it up enough?! Thank goodness for the internet!
I've referenced them a few times on my blog, so I hope by now you've gave them a listen.. but if not, go ahead..!

Another group from London..! I told you, London is where it's at. I need to have myself some babies in London and turn them into amazing music making humans. That's the plan. Can't fail with the London good music statistics! Meet the XX. They started out as a foursome but turned into a trio. Their latest and FIRST album is absolutely everything you could ever ask for.
Not only is the album everything and more, but they produced it themselves. If you haven't gave them a listen yet, you've probably heard them on TV.. they blew up, with one album.. and they deserve every penny. If not that, perhaps you've heard of the member, Jamie XX, who puts out fab remixes like nobody's business. They are currently working on their second album which will drop sometime in 2012.. I CAN'T FUCKING WAIT FOR IT! I listen to their first a lot. I also routinely imagine certain songs to be played at my wedding, and sometimes when I walk into a room, I imagine some to be my theme enter song. You can do so too, by taking a listen..
It was hard to pick favorites, because there isn't an XX song I don't like.. but enjoy these!

You can always count on London to feed you musical geniuses. This guy is a little bit of everything, funk, dubstep, R&B, you name it. Disregard his Frank Ocean remix, the only remix from him I didn't approve of.. this guy is gifted. The whole fun thing about SBTRKT is his ode to anonymity. He's been known to say he wants everything to be about the music.. and be about the music, it is. His bio is pretty much impossible to find, actually, any information about him is pretty much hard to find.. but the music he puts forward is so scrumptious, I could eat it all day. I like to share meals though, so lemme throw you my two favorites.

COOL CALM PETE
Raised in Queens! This dude is that shit. The first song I ever heard off him was from his solo album, "lost", and it was called "Two A.M.". I was sold after that.
This guy has a smoooooth voice, and so is his cadence. There's almost a hypnotizing feel to it. Everything.. just.. flows. It's a lazy-type-sluggish rap.. but the verses are everything but that. Witty, hilarious, and annunciation that makes you appreciate English.. this dude is one to love as soon as you press play.. so take a listen.

Whenever I listen to Cool Calm Pete, I just get stupid hot. That voice fuckin' does something to you, man. Like, I'm not even really attracted to dude.. but every time I hear this song. I wanna take off all my clothes. He's comical as shit too! With, "then she kissed the dick, pure bliss!".. aweeezzzuumm. Like, let's fuck already.
THE FRATELLIS
Meet The Fratellis! Now, whether their name came from "The Goonies" or not, I am completely un-aware of.. I'd like to believe it did.. WHO DOESN'T LOVE THE GOONIES?! The Fratellis are my favorite indie rock band. THEY ARE SO FUCKING AMAZING! & their sound is too!
These boys are from Scotland. Costello Music is my favorite album from them, and I will support their music forever. I can't remember how I found out about these guys, but I remember hearing one song and spending the entire night downloading.. the next day I was on the hunt for their albums. If you've ever wondered why my name on bbm is "Chelsea Dagger", it is because of my favorite Fratelli song. SO TURN YOUR FUCKING SPEAKERS UP AND SPILL YOUR DRINK, because this gem is worth the damage:

BENJAMIN FRANCIS LEFTWICH
There's something so perfect about Benjamin. I mean, take away that calm, relaxing, soothing voice that grabs your heart and makes you want to scream out and cry in a beautiful way that you have never done before! *takes breath*. Take that away, and you're left with such a peaceful, talented soul, who makes lovely music.
This man is a year younger than me and is from England.. What else do you need to know?! England produces some of the most talented people, evah! My two favorite songs from him are posted below. PICTURES HITS ME LIKE A WARM SPOONFUL OF GRANDMA'S PORRIDGE. Absolute bliss.
